Lincoln ri Wedding
Lincoln is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 20,898 at the 2000 census. Lincoln is located in northeastern Rhode Island, and is north of Providence.
Lincoln was settled in the 1600s and several colonial stone-enders (a unique Rhode Island style of house) were built in the town.[1] Limestone quarrying has occurred here since colonial times at the village of Limerock. Lincoln was a part of Smithfield until the late 1800's. The town itself was founded in 1871 and named in honor of Abraham Lincoln. The town was an important mill town in the late 1800's, with many textile factories running along the Blackstone River.
Lincoln consists of seven villages: Manville, Lonsdale, Saylesville, Limerock, Albion, Fairlawn and Quinnville. Lincoln has four elementary schools, one junior high school and one high school. The "old" middle school was recently assimilated into the high school, and a new middle school built. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 49.1 km (19.0 mi). 47.2 km (18.2 mi) of it is land and 1.9 km (0.7 mi) of it (3.80%) is water.
